Research on the Localization Practice and Innovation Path of Chinese Audio Book Platforms in Thailand: A Case Study of the YOME Platform

Abstract: With the rise of the ear economy and the deepening of China's digital publishing "ecological overseas expansion", audio books, as an important part of the IP ecosystem of online literature, have become a key topic in terms of their country-specific development paths. This article takes the Thai market as the observation object and focuses on the case of YOME, a Chinese audio book platform, in its overseas expansion in Thailand, exploring how Chinese audio reading can effectively implement localization practices. The research finds that YOME platform precisely targets vertical genres such as romance, fantasy, and mystery at the content level, building a data-driven topic selection mechanism; at the operation level, it centers around the Z-generation audio community and conducts multi-matrix marketing; at the cultural level, it deeply integrates Chinese and Thai cultural symbols and employs local translators for cross-cultural translation. The "community-based, multi-industry" localization path explored by YOME not only provides a replicable practice model for the overseas expansion of Chinese audio books but also offers strategic insights for the country-specific dissemination of digital cultural products.
